Introduction
The proposed curriculum for the Master of Business Administration (Banking & Finance) Program has been designed after the review of several leading professional programs such as those of the Institute of Bankers Pakistan and Chartered Institute of Bankers, London.
Given the fact that the Program proposes to serve the professional/educational needs of both the private & public sectors in new situations, the generic approach to banking education has been utilized in curriculum design. Consequently, the first year of study leading to MBA degree has been designed to provide the basic management skill required in private banks and in the second year, specialization in these, disciplines follow.
Eligibility Criterion is the same as per MBA Program
The courses offered by the Program are divided into the following three groups:
(a) Basic Skill Courses
These courses will provide the basic tools, techniques and skills that are employed by a bank in managing the various functions in business; these include statistics, quantitative methods, computer applications, and management communications.
(b) Functional Courses
These courses will develop knowledge, concepts and practices in the functional areas of banking. These will include courses in economics, finance, accounting, marketing, production, operations, organizational behaviour and business analysis and laws affecting the financial sector.
(c) General Courses
These courses will provide knowledge about some of the key variables in the external and internal environment of the bank. These will include courses in the business, Islamic Banking, Business Policy and Human Resource Management, the history of Business Development, Internal Business, Money Market Operations and Foreign Exchange etc.
Note: Non-Credit Pass/Fail
- Information Technology relating to Banks and Financial Institutions (with access to Internet and E-mail services)
- Students may opt for any two courses (1) BF641 Analysis of Capital Market (2) BF647 Performance Review of Banks and other Financial Institutions.
