Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education has been sponsored by Dadabhoy Foundation with a specific focus on serving the cause of higher education. The institute received its charter in the year 2003 and has been placed in Category “W” (A) by Higher Education Commission. It is the mandate of the Foundation that the institute should play a significant role in reducing inadequacies originating from limited access to higher education, problems of equity and deteriorating quality of education. Further, special attention has to be paid to educational needs of meritorious students with limited financial means. Using higher education as a tool, the malaise of social stratification, we are hoping, will cause social mobility. I am glad that the institute is living up to this mandate. Certainly this initiative will be extended further with the launching of a huge university complex at Hawkesbay.
I understand that in the age of knowledge economy higher education has to play a vital role. Accordingly, DIHE has been further activated not only for teaching but also for research. The addition of new highly qualified faculty with Ph.D. Degrees should be able to make rich contribution in this direction for the benefit of our students.
The addition of new building for housing the Business School with its state-of-the-art Executive Development Center should be able to cater to the educational needs of intellectually robust students at the cutting edge of Knowledge. It is my desire that the Business School should become a centre of attraction for those who wish to develop real professionalism in finance, trade, management, marketing and Islamic banking, among others. Further, to keep pace with advancing frontiers of knowledge the introduction of BS Degree in Electronics and Communication will go a long way in the training of our youth in the rapidly growing field of telecommunication. My message to my faculty is to work with mission and play an important role in the nation-building task.
