I was teaching in Europe in some of the most prestigious institutions. One fine day I thought that I should also teach in Pakistan because it is the country of my origin. It was the sheer love of Pakistan that made me give up my assignments in Europe. Ever since, I have been teaching in DIHE which I have found to be a resilient and humane organization. Dadabhoy Foundation which is supporting this institution is doing a great job. The noble intentions of the Foundation and the earnestness of purpose is bearing fruit and now we are on our way to building one of the most dynamic Universities in Asia.
Forty years of my tenure in Europe has made me acquire a vision which tells me that a study of the working of the industrial and commercial units of our national economy and case studies of these is excellent training for students. Our students are already undertaking these under my guidance and of the faculty members. I am in the process of creating an environment in which the university will become a bridge between the industry and commerce and the two will move in perfect harmony and unison. The project studies which our students will undertake will give them an in-depth knowledge of the industry which will help them in their careers later on.
A nod of re-assurance is necessary here: you have joined a University in which the greatest emphasis is placed on the grooming up of the students so that when they enter the job market they are fully equipped to face the challenges there. A lot of emphasis is placed in the University on broadening the mental horizons of the students by exposing them to world class speakers from Germany, England, the United States, Australia and other countries. By the time a student leaves the university, he is a well rounded person who has a fair idea of the global developments in science and technology. He is also well versed in the art of communication. He brims with the love of his country and has a burning desire to serve Mankind. So good luck to you. I can assure you, you have taken a correct decision by joining DIHE.
